The
Show
Since
the early eighties this major international event has continually provided an
unrivalled forum in the Kingdom for companies to showcase new products and
services, as well as discussing the latest developments with leading healthcare
professionals.
This
unique combination of Healthcare and Hospital, together with the introduction of
Wellbeing, is of benefit to both exhibitors and visitors creating an all
encompassing marketplace whilst at the same time maintaining their individual
identities and sector focus.
As
the key healthcare event in the Kingdom it offers three distinct show profiles:
Saudi Healthcare – Health and medical products, equipment and services,
including; insurance, dental, pharmaceuticals (including OTC), rehabilitation,
scientific equipment and labware.
Saudi Hospital – Non-medical services, supplies and equipment, including;
catering, IT, furnishings, climate control, fire and safety, laundries, hospital
management and infrastructure.
Saudi Wellbeing – Supplies equipment and services, including; complimentary
and alternative medicines, gyms, spas, health supplements and vitamins, dietary
foods and personal diagnostic equipment.
Saudi
Healthcare, Hospital and Wellbeing is the Region’s international forum and the
Kingdom’s national showcase, providing both Saudi and international companies
with a world class platform from which to promote health products and services
to a broad spectrum of visitors from across the Kingdom and surrounding Gulf
States.
The Market
With
a healthcare market of three broad sectors; the Ministry of Health (MOH), non-MOH
(military, National Guard, security forces, university hospitals etc) and
private, Saudi Arabia is expected to annually spend in excess of US$ 20 billion
on the health and medical sector by 2016.
Increased
requirements for better medical products and services as well as the rapid rise
in population (expected to grow by more than 20 percent to over 30 million in
2016) is fuelling demand and providing unprecedented growth across the entire
spectrum of the industry.
Whilst
MOH is the largest buyer, representing around 60 percent of the market, the
private sector has assumed a growing role and increased its participation in the
provision of healthcare services (currently accounting for 25% of healthcare
spending).
Saudi
Arabia’s burgeoning population is increasingly looking at other areas of health
and opting for changes in lifestyle in order that they may enjoy both good
health and wellness. The wellbeing industry has witnessed tremendous growth in
recent years and is expected to double in value in the next two years.
Vitamins
and dietary supplements are expected to see the most dynamic growth amongst Over
The Counter (OTC) sales (expected to exceed US$530 million by 2009), increasing
by nearly 40% in current value terms. The fitness market for gyms, spas and
home equipment, as well as the general wellbeing sector, is also expected to
benefit tremendously from the Government’s initiative.
